You know what's sad?

I get a lot of my gaming news from Penny Arcade. I think this goes hand in hand with my getting a lot of my real news from the Daily Show and Colbert Report. ;)

However the point of this is that I refreshed my friends page this morning, read the Penny Arcade comic, and holy shit there's a Starcraft 2!!!

No matter how hard I try I can't find Cable/Deadpool slash! I've been looking for the past several days and there is almost none to be found! In fact, I have found a total of 6 Cable/Deadpool fics on the totality of the internet.

How is this even possible? Have the fangirls deserted me in my time of need? This comic cries out to be slashed people! See! . . . OK, that's totally out of context, but even in context it's terribly slashy, just in a different way! Nate "bodyslided by two" them back to where it all began, in hopes of showing Deadpool the error of his ways! . . . Right, then.

Still, I'm very upset with fandom right now. See, this is my upset face - ;(

Yay for new Supernatural! As a matter of fact YAY!! for new Supernatural! I <3 you so. I really, really do. And this episode was freaking fantastic, with suspensful bear hugging moments, great non-chick-flick-moments, and some new info! Although, seriously, IS THAT REALLY ALL JOHN TOLD DEAN! THAT'S NOTHING! "Save Sammy, 'Cause if you don't you may have to kill him"! WE ALREADY KNEW THAT! THAT TOLD US NOTHING NEW!!!! AND WHY WON'T ANYONE TELL US HOW SAM IS SUPPOSED TO END UP HELPING THE DEMON?! < /capslock of rage > Telling us that the demon plans on Sam and the people like him becoming soldiers in the war to come is only actually telling us a tiny bit. Which isn't terribly surprising, but still.

Oh, and what's up with Eva disappearing and leaving the ring behind. Surely she wasn't "triggered" or some such thing. She must have just been kidnapped by whatever thing killed her fiance, and the ring came off in the process, right? She's not evil! She's not! . . . Because if she is, that really doesn't bode well for Sammy.

In a more general supernatural vein, does anyone have any theories as to why some of the people like Sam "fit the pattern" (ie, dead mother in house fire @ 6 months of age), and some don't? Just curious as to other peoples ideas here.

PS: Also, at this very moment, I am watching SPN music vids on my TV by way of streaming them to my Wii! This is so awesome!

I just realized that I never did tell you the answers to the fandom meme I posted a bit back! Just so you remember the instructions were as follows:

Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/etc. that you've had an obsessive fannish love of at some time in your life. Then have your friends list guess your favourite character from each item.

Of course, I couldn't choose just 20, so I posted 21. Here they are with their respective favorite characters.

Angel

Nobody guessed this. Everyone guessed Wesley or Fred. Now don't get me wrong, I love Wesley and Fred, but they just don't measure up to Gunn. I've loved him pretty much since he was introduced on the show. Part of this is because he is clearly not the one I am expected to love, and part of it is simply because his interactions with the rest of the gang are just so very adorable. From when he and Cordy went to a paty in his neighborhood, to all the little arguments he and Wes had, they were just so great! There are so many things I can point to and say "See! Isn't he adorable!" But I think I'll shut up now.

Anne McCaffrey's Pern

This was actually a really tough choice for me between Robinton and Menolly, but I went with Robinton in the end. The books of the harperhall trilogy are amoung the first fantasy books I ever read, and as such I have an undying affection for them. As for why Robinton, well he's an awesome child prodigy that despite his poor angsty childhood rose to be the best Masterharper Pern's ever seen! Plus, I always thought he was a much better love interest for Menolly than Sebell ever was!

It's not that I don't love everyone else, and that Marcus isn't quite cute, gardenprophet. It's just that G'Kar and Londo are so great! Londo's the sort of person of person you find yourself constantly torn between hitting and hugging, while G'Kar is just . . . so G'Kar! I can't think of anything else to say without giving away spoilers, and I think not all of you have seen this yet, so I shall refrain. I shall simply warn everyone not to "symbolically castr- [Londo] in a bad light."

I can't actually remember for sure when I started watching Buffy (I believe it was early second season, but the actual episode escapes me.), but I can tell you that I've always identified with Willow. She's the geeky one who is socially ostracized for her geekiness! To a middleschool jissa, this was me to a T! . . . Except that there's actually no T in my name. Where does that T thing come from anyway? OK, ignoring that, and even ignoring the identification Willow is clearly the schnizznit, even when evil, skanky and kinda gay (possible especially when kinda gay. She and Tara were so cute!!), so she was simply the obvious answer. ;)

Here we once again see my tendency to love the character we are

expected to love. In Due South, Benton Fraser is set up to be this oh-so-perfect character that everyone will love and the females will all swoon over. Thus, of course, Vecchio had to my favorite! But there's a lot to reccommend Vecchio besides being not Fraser! ;) He's just so cute! He goes around in a classic Riveria (which he loves to death, and on more than occassion calls "the riv"), wears the silliest "suave city-boy" clothes you have ever seen (we're talking the equivalent of hawaiian print shirts), and likes to act as though he has no morals. But underneath that facade, you can see his fundamental decency (and loyalty to Fraser of course!), and you can't help but love him!

I just can't resist the siren call of her craziness. Or her feet. Her feet can show more emotion than most characters in other shows. Plus how many other people can tell you how long it takes to drain the human body of blood, given adequate vacuuming systems?

Fray

Loo is great! Sure is a mutant and not in the cool x-men meaning of the word) who clearly needs meds to keep from driving almost everyone around her crazy (and probably stay healthy as well, although that's never said) but she's our crazy mutant girl!! She has absolutely no fear, and will always stand up for Mel. Plus, she's just so darn cute!

Harry Potter

Hermione is a lot like the me of v. early middle school and the end of elementary school. And while that is pretty cool, it's also kinda bad. I don't know how my friends put up with me back then. (Thanks ambyrglow!) The other side of things is that from Hermione you get the feeling that she likes to learn for what she can do with it, not because she loves to learn. That's all well and good, and it certainly explains why she's in Gryffindor, but it makes her far less likely to be my favorite character.

Now Remus and Luna both give me the feel that they love to learn. That whether or not there would ever be a use for what they're learning they would still randomly go on JStor to read articles (speaking of, did you know that I can still get into JStor with my carleton alumni account? Score!). Of course they're both still incredibly different, but I love both them. Luna's crazy! She runs around with radish earings and a cork necklace just because she feels like it! Plus, she commentates on the cloud formations instead of the actual Quidditch game! How cool is that?! Now Remus, is incredibly serious, but in a really cute way. You just have to feel for him and the things that he's suffered for being a werewolf, and be incredibly happy that he fell in with the marauders. Plus, he and Sirius are so cute!

Oh Ami! I identified(/identify) with you so! She's the geeky one of the Sailor Scouts! Always fiddling around with her computer thing to track the youma / figure out their weaknesses, etc. Plus, she's the top of her class and pretty much always has been. She spends almost all of her time studying or going to study classes to prepare her to get into the best highschools and colleges. Actually, I'm pretty sure that when I wrote the meme I was planning on having Logan being the answer. But lately Logan's been annoying me, and not showing his true genius. Besides, Veronica has always been one of my favorite characters of the show. She's smart, she's spunky, she's snarky and she's nobody's patsy. She can sneak up on frat-like initiations and yell "Say repressed homosexuality everyone!" and she can devote her life to finding out who killed her best friend. While she's been much more of a marshmellow and less of the fun spiky-edged exterior that I've always loved this season, I have faith in her ability to remain the Veronica Mars I know and love.

Jean Grey / Phoenix was my first x-men love, and I will never abandon her. As Jean Grey, she's well, something of all the things I wanted to be as a kid. She's the professor's protege, she's intelligent, she's even a bit geeky in her special way. Plus, she has more love interests than you shake a stick at! (I tried once. There's only so much stick shaking one can do before getting bored. And I could never, ever shake a stick at Cyclops.) And then you bring in Phoenix and she just gets cooler. I mean, Phoenix is just awesome. I think she says it best herself: "Hear me, X-men! No longer am I the woman you knew! I am Fire and Life incarnate! Now and forever - I am PHOENIX!" She has the power of a God. The ability to destroy whole planets, and the willingness to do so simply to feed. We feared her, we hated her, but she fascinated us. And then Jean made the ultimate sacrifice - she "could have lived to become a god. But it was more important to her that she die...a human."
Kitty Pryde is my other x-men love. She's incredibly cute, incredibly nice and incredibly loyal to the x-men. She started out rather shy, overwhelmed by all the superhero types around her, but she's definitely become one of the superhero types herself now. Her power is to phase herself through things - bullets, walls, even your body if neccessary. Most of the time she nice fluffy bunny x-men who uses her power purely defensively, but if you piss her off she will reach into you and squeeze your heart until you die if neccessary. She also has an x-dragon Lockheed who is incredibly awesome (Curse you joss! Curse you! I believe in Lockheed's awesomeness no matter what you tell me!). Plus her relationship with Peter is incredibly cute! Quite possibly the best x-relationship there is. Plus she gets some great snarky lines sometimes, from calling bantering sessions with Spider-Man in Ultimate X-Men, to letting Emma Frost know that she showed up let to an x-men meeting because "she was busy remembering to put on all my clothes."

This leaves us with . . . gardenprophet as the winner! Followed by lmccat and then alirose and tudhalis. The rest of you did not get more than 6! I expect you guys to study up!

Hee! I do notice two trends in my favorites: they seem to mostly be the intelligent snarky ones or the intelligent shy nerdy ones. They're a few others but they all seem to have some combination of the characteristics: intelligent, snarky, shy, and nerdy. . . . I suppose this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but still.

First of all, could the stupid "Aerie Tuesday" ads go away! They are amazingly insipid. Amazingly insipid.

Also, they change the opening credits! Both the pictures and the music! How could they do that too me?! Couldn't they just change one at time??
